The Dışarı mosque — also called the Çelebi Hüsamettin mosque — stands on Bor Caddesi in the Saruhan quarter of Niğde. It has no foundation inscription; it is thought to have been built in the sixteenth century. It has come down through various repairs, keeps its original character to a large degree and is still in use. The porch for latecomers had collapsed and was rebuilt to its original form.
The building belongs to the single-domed group. The prayer hall measures 17.10 by 17.10 metres on the outside, with the three-domed porch on its north measuring 5.40 by 17.10, and a minaret with one balcony at the north-west corner.
Finely worked yellowish trachyte was used on the walls and the drum of the dome, and ash-grey cut stone on the minaret and the mihrab. The workmanship is careful. The walls are carried up high, and two rows of windows were opened in all of them to relieve what would otherwise be a monotonous face.
The porch is covered by three domes carried on pendentives. The main door into the prayer hall, 1.15 by 2.10 metres, is set at the middle of the north wall, its depressed arch and jambs made of marble. Seventeen windows light the interior — eight in the lower row, eight in the upper, distributed evenly among the walls, and one in the drum of the dome. There is no excess of ornament; what decoration there is appears on the mihrab and on the muezzin's gallery.
