Ersizlerdere Kanyonu Tabiat Parkı covers 217.01 hectares in Kastamonu, on the Küre–İnebolu road eight kilometres from Küre, and was declared on 10 September 2020. Fieldwork found the site rich in wildlife and biological diversity, and the Directorate describes it as one of the rare areas in the country that stands out for being genuinely wild and untouched.
The canyon itself is what visitors come for. Tour operators have added it to their day-trip circuit in Kastamonu province, which makes it one of the more accessible of the recently declared nature parks. Undisturbed vegetation, the landscape, and the combination of landforms and water give the area its value for both recreation and natural science.
The wider region has been settled since antiquity. Records and finds show occupation from the time of the Paphlagonians onwards, and the castle at Doğanlar, within the boundaries of Karadonu village rather than inside the park, dates from the Paphlagonian period between roughly 1100 and 700 BC.
