The Eskişehir Archaeological Museum stands on the boulevard in Eskişehir formerly called Hasan Polatkan and now Atatürk. It holds close to eighteen thousand objects.
Its beginnings go back to 1945, when works gathered from the surrounding country were stored in the Alaaddin Mosque in Eskişehir. The collection moved in 1966 to the Kurşunlu complex in Odunpazarı, and to its present site in 1974.
Besides the archaeological collection there is an ethnographic section showing local clothing and other ethnographic material, and a garden displaying marble statues and terracotta jars.
The museum went in for alteration in May 2001. The Eti group sponsored and carried out the work, and the museum's name was changed to the Eskişehir Eti Archaeological Museum. It was meant to reopen on 29 October 2010 but in fact opened on 30 May 2011, at a ceremony attended by the prime minister Erdoğan and the minister of culture and tourism Ertuğrul Günay. The museum uses digital display techniques developed by METU with the support of TÜBİTAK.
