Guide
The Eskişehir Chamber of Commerce built this museum around a single question: how the city came to trade and manufacture what it does. It occupies a three-storey registered mansion in Odunpazarı, the old quarter Eskişehir is known for, and the collection was put together largely from objects and documents given by the chamber's own members — the tradesmen, merchants and industrialists of long-established local firms.
Alongside those company holdings the chamber says the museum presents the figures and objects it treats as landmarks in the city's commercial past: the Phrygian king Midas, whose name it ties to commercial shrewdness; Ali Osman Denizköpüğü, one of the first masters of meerschaum, the stone Eskişehir is carved from; Nasreddin Hoca; the Phrygian cult monument at Yazılıkaya; Karakurt, the first locomotive built in the city; Devrim, the first car of domestic manufacture; and the first Ottoman coin together with coins struck locally. The museum's own account does not say in which form each of these is shown.
The address is Paşa Mahallesi, Işıklar Sokak No. 7. Visits can be booked through the museum's website.
