Eskişehir's Liberation Museum is about the National Struggle as it was fought and lived in this province: the first and second battles of İnönü, the ground at Karatepe, Yıldıztepe, Turbetepe, Gazitepe, Mangaldağı, Duatepe and the Sakarya plain, and the ox-carts that carried ammunition to the front.
The displays are built out of period print as much as objects. There is a section of newspapers published during the National Struggle, another of caricatures that ran in the magazines of the same years, a photographic gallery from the period, and a chronology section that sets out how the campaign was planned and conducted. A wall of figures runs from Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and İsmet İnönü through Fatma Seher, Ali Fuat Cebesoy, Refet Bele, Fevzi Çakmak, Behic Erkin, Kâzım Özalp, İzzettin Calislar, Eyüp Sabri, Mehmet Nazim, Abdullah Azmi, Hacı Veli Efendi and Kâzım Karabekir.
Practical notes from the museum itself: it opens 10:00 to 17:00 on weekdays and at weekends, closes on Mondays, and the ticket desk takes bank and credit cards only — no cash.
