The mosque standing today is not the original: the Reşadiye mosque built in 1916 by Sultan Reşad was demolished, and the present building was put up between 1969 and 1978 to the design of the architect Cevat Ülger.
It is in the city centre and the provincial guide singles out its architecture. The provincial government building and the old courthouse stand behind it, the Tasbasi market directly opposite, and the provincial public library on the other side.
