The mosque at Göynük that Gazi Süleyman Paşa built in 1335 no longer stands: it collapsed, and the present mosque was built in its place by order of Abdülhamid II. Its architecture is accordingly late, as the provincial directorate notes.
It has a single dome and one minaret. The tomb of Akşemsettin stands in its courtyard.
The directorate describes the mosque as one of two works Gazi Süleyman Paşa raised here. The other is the double bath at Göynük, which our inventory holds separately and dates to 1335-1338.
