The Girlevik waterfall, about thirty kilometres southeast of Erzincan, is the most used picnic ground in the province, and what it offers changes with the season. The fall is roughly thirty metres high and drops in three tiers through a number of separate channels.
In spring the ground around it comes out in daisies and fuchsias among many other plants and visitors picnic in the shade of the oleaster trees; in summer people come to cool off in the cold water.
The other season to come is winter. When the temperature falls below zero the waterfall freezes, which is a sight in itself, and the icicles that form make it suitable for ice climbing; climbers put on displays on the frozen fall through the winter months. The provincial directorate says it draws visitors from within Türkiye and abroad. Road transport runs between central Erzincan and the falls in both directions.

- Across Erzincan as a whole, monthly mean temperatures run from -2.8 °C in January to 24 °C in August; the mean stays between 15 and 25 °C in May, June, July, August and September; rainfall is heaviest in May (54 mm) and lightest in August (7 mm).
