Guide
In Ilısu, a small town in Aksaray province at the head of the Ihlara Valley, people have bathed in the hot springs since Roman times: the Romans, who discovered the water, hollowed a bathhouse out of the rock, and that rock-cut bath is still used today. The provincial directorate of culture and tourism points out that the town stands on soft tuff, which is what made it possible to carve such a large bath here.
