The Ottoman culture house in Ortahisar, Trabzon, is presented as the place where Suleiman the Magnificent was born and grew up, living here until the age of fifteen, and it is one of the historic Turkish houses of the district. Inside are wax figures of Mehmed II, Selim I and Suleiman, along with pictures relating to Ottoman history and books on the history of Trabzon and of the empire.
The building stands within the city walls. It is masonry, built in stone, with a basement, a ground floor, a main floor and an attic, and all the facades are plastered; the main and basement entrances are on the east front. The roof is hipped and covered with pantiles, with narrow eaves closed underneath in wood. The plan is square. On the ground floor four rooms open off the entrance hall, with a lavatory under the spiral stair. That stair leads to the main floor, where four rooms open onto the sofa and the room next to the attic stair has its own lavatory. Directly above the entrance, on the main floor, is a glazed balcony. The house is on Zağnos Caddesi.
