The Veli Altınkaya press museum was opened by the metropolitan municipality of Kayseri on 24 July, the day journalists in Turkey mark as their own, and it was created together with the Kayseri association of journalists and Erciyes University. Its subject is the local press over 114 years.
What is gathered inside is the working material of that trade: the equipment and supplies used in printing and publishing, documents, and the publications themselves arranged so that the stages they passed through can be followed, together with the people who did the work. The municipality presents it as a bridge between generations — a place to see how newspapers were actually made — and as a source for researchers as much as for visitors.
