The Miletus Museum is an archaeological museum standing within the site of the ancient city of Miletus, near the village of Balat in the Didim district of Aydın. It opened in 1973 and displays works recovered from the ancient cities of Miletus, Didyma and Priene.
The first museum did not last. Its structural stability failed over time and it came to pose a danger, so the building was demolished and a new one opened on the same site in 2011.
The museum is divided into indoor and outdoor display areas, and the interior is itself arranged in sections for finds brought from different places; the indoor display area covers about 600 square metres under roof. The garden serves as an open-air exhibition, showing large marble works, inscriptions, sarcophagi and architectural fragments.
Opposite the museum is the Park of Philosophers, a space given to the intellectual inheritance of Miletus, with explanatory panels on the thinkers, architects and artists the ancient city produced.
