The Meriç and the Tunca are the two chief rivers of Edirne, a city also known as the city of waters, and there are picnic grounds and rest facilities along both.
The Meriç rises in Bulgaria and enters the country at the Edirne boundary, forming part of the border with Greece. Crossing the Meriç bridge brings you to Karaagaç, where the picnic grounds run down to the river itself. Both rivers are reached on foot or by city transport from the centre.
