The monastery of the Virgin stands at Anitli village, the old Hah, in the Midyat district of Mardin. The church rising at the south of the village carries the Syriac name Yoldoth Aloho, the Mother of God, and is known in Arabic as El Hadra, the Virgin.
The complex holds the monastery church together with, in the same courtyard, the priest's room, the caretaker's house, a guest house, a medrese and spaces added to the monastery over the centuries. The church itself is small overall but imposing in its decoration and proportions. The monastery, along with the Mor Sobo cathedral, is among the buildings placed on the UNESCO Tentative List in 2021 under the heading of the Late Antique and Medieval churches and monasteries of Midyat and its surroundings, that is Turabdin.
