The fountains of Mardin work off a system worth understanding: water collected by the drip method in tunnels cut into the rocks below the castle runs through channels down to the fountains, and each quarter has a fountain of its own. The fountains are classified by the source their water comes from — salty, plain and so on.
The water of the Ceviz fountain is sweet. It is in the Savurkapı quarter: from the Artuklu caravanserai on 1. Cadde, continue about 100 metres to the south-east.
