Sparse natural juniper grows on the site, and afforestation has since brought in stone pine, eucalyptus and Cyprus acacia in groups, with ironwood, catalpa and ash as single specimens. The shrub and maquis flora spread across the area includes strawberry tree, wild olive, green olive tree, holm oak and kermes oak, together with ivy, rockrose, thyme and various meadow grasses.
The park adjoins the delta of the Büyük Menderes, where research has established that 255 bird species live and seventy breed. The Dalmatian pelican, on the edge of extinction and estimated at three thousand individuals worldwide, breeds on the islets in the Karina lagoon. Those islets are also used as breeding grounds by the little egret, grey heron, shelduck, yellow-legged gull, tern and kingfisher.
Much of the ground suitable for camping and picnicking is shaded, and the open areas have been planted. The site is used today for picnics and camping.
