Munzur Vadisi Milli Parkı covers 42,000 hectares along the Munzur valley between Tunceli and Ovacık, declared a national park in 1971. The provincial directorate calls it one of the largest national parks in Türkiye.
It begins 8 kilometres from Tunceli town and runs the length of the valley to Ovacık. To the north the Munzur mountains rise to 3,300 metres, cut through by the valleys of the Mercan and the Munzur.
