The mosque standing here is a rebuilding. According to the inscription on the wall of its iwan, the ruined building that stood on the spot was pulled down by Hafız-i Kur'an Müsir Paşa, with the support of Muhammed (Miri) Paşa, who had become district governor of Raqqa, and the mosque was then built anew. The inscription was written by the poet Sakib, and its last line gives the year 1839.
The source places the mosque at Akarbasi in the Baliklıgöl quarter in one line and in the Göl quarter in another. It is reached by city transport.
