The Arabi mosque was built in 1743 by Muhammed Fazili Efendi, and the provincial directorate calls its minaret the only one of its kind in Urfa. According to the records it was built on the site of an earlier prayer house known as the Alihan mescidi.

The mosque is also called the Old Arabi mosque. The directorate's description places it on Mahmut Coşkunses Sokak in the Harrankapı area. It is reached by city transport.
