Everything known about this mosque's age comes from one inscription. The eight-line text over its inner door records that the building was repaired in 1155 and again in 1514, and, in lines written by the poet Sabir, gives 1871 as the date of the last repair. Because the earliest of those repairs is so early, the provincial directorate counts it among the oldest mosques in Urfa.
The source gives its place twice and differently: Güllüoglu Sokak in the Türkmeydani quarter in the description, and the Kurtuluş quarter in the address. It is reached by city transport.
