The Rüstem Paşa madrasa standing today was rebuilt: the original of 1550 was pulled down in the 1930s and what could be established was restored. Its inscription is in the Kütahya Archaeology Museum.
The building was put up in 1550 by Rüstem Paşa, grand vizier and son-in-law of Süleyman the Magnificent, and is counted among the old buildings of Kütahya. It is on Balıklı Caddesi, 300 metres from the centre.
