Guide
Sakarıılıca is a spa tucked into a forested valley between mountains, 32 kilometres north of Eskişehir. Alongside a licensed tourist facility there are tent pitches among the trees, and you can rent a room or stay in one of a handful of hotels; the Eskişehir directorate of culture and tourism recommends it to anyone looking for hot springs, barbecue picnics or walks among the pines.
The thermal water flows at about 3 litres per second from a fully enclosed captage well and reaches the bathhouses through a covered channel. The directorate lists it as good for neuritis, neuralgia, chronic rheumatism, the after-effects of fractures and dislocations, gynaecological complaints, lumbago, diabetes, obesity and kidney disease. A second spring of mineral water, at 25.5°C, rises nearby. The area was declared a thermal tourism centre in 1993, and its boundaries were enlarged in 2006.
Getting there
The spa lies off the Eskişehir–Muttalip road; follow the road towards Anadolu University's İki Eylül campus.
