The tomb is entered from inside the Cezayirli Ali Paşa mosque, on the Ada headland east of Sinop: its door opens off the mosque, on the left-hand side. It is one of the most visited holy places in the city.
Who lies here is not straightforward. The inscription on the sarcophagus inside shows that the building was put up in 1280 by Emir Beklemis for his father Emir Tayboga — son of İlbasmis, son of Koçkad, son of Oğul Bey, son of Hoca Ebubekir, known as Yas Bey. The wooden sarcophagus in the tomb, railed around its sides and carrying no inscription, is estimated to be that of Seyit İbrahim Bilal, whose name the tomb goes by. It is in the centre and can be reached on foot.
