Yavşan Yaylası lies thirty-six kilometres from the centre of Kahramanmaraş. It was declared the thirty-ninth nature park in Türkiye on 15 December 2009 and covers 348 hectares.
In the southern part of the park, an area of 238 hectares holds cedars six to seven hundred years old along with a range of endemic plants and animals.
The pasture is rich in plant life. Scientific work carried out here identified 534 taxa spread across sixty-seven families and 287 genera, sixty-eight of them — 12.7 per cent — endemic.
Among the conifers growing here naturally are the Taurus fir, the cedar of Lebanon, black pine and juniper; among the broadleaves, aspen and oak. Wild walnut grows along the stream beds.
The area is home to a variety of wild animals, among them wild boar, wolf, fox and hare, and to many kinds of bird. It lies in the Onikişubat district.
