The date the Deli Gönüller Mansion was built is not known. An Armenian inscription on its first floor shows that it was repaired in the late nineteenth century. The house has two storeys.
On the west side a segmental-arched wooden door, faced in neatly cut red-brown stone and of the kind called enikli — a large door with a smaller one set into it — leads by a single step into the courtyard.
To the left of that entrance a stair rises to the first floor, built of single blocks sunk into the wall to half its height and of wood above. Beneath the stair is a small lavatory with a segmental-arched doorway, and north of it a fountain with a small rectangular basin and a niche under a cusped arch. Immediately to the left of the fountain is a large segmental-arched hearth, and beside the hearth a room used as a stable or workshop, with a further room opening from it and another adjoining that.
Upstairs, on the left, is the principal room, which projects over the street. Its door is of panelled wood with a crowned head, its ceiling is carved wood with a central boss, and its windows are the sliding sash kind. The traditional materials — stone, mudbrick and timber — were all obtained nearby.
The house is in Dulkadiroğlu, about ten minutes on foot from the historic markets of Maraş in the city centre. It can be reached by taxi or minibus from the intercity bus terminal, and by taxi from the airport.
