The Ziraat Bank İzmir Art Museum stands in a detached building on Şehit Fethi Bey Caddesi in Konak that was put up in 1930 and carries clear marks of the National Architecture movement. The building was restored, and a selection from the bank's art collection was set aside floor by floor as the restoration went on, so that the works and the rooms were fitted to each other rather than one being moved into the other afterwards.
It is the bank's second museum, after the banking museum in its historic head office in Ankara, and the bank describes it as the first art museum opened by a bank. Alongside the permanent selection it has a hall for temporary exhibitions, a children's education workshop and digital experience areas, and it was planned with the stated aim of contributing to the cultural and artistic life of İzmir.
It opens every day from 09:00 to 18:00 except Mondays and public holidays, and entry is free. School parties and other groups need to book in advance.
