Straight-line distance misleads badly in Rize. The valleys run north to south and do not connect to one another across the ridges, so moving between two places in neighbouring valleys means going down to the coast and back up. Read this list valley by valley.
The Tunca valley nature park is in the east, and the Anzer plateau inland at İkizdere.
