Maçka holds the two monasteries: Sümela, cut into the cliff, and Vazelon west of it. Our sources do not record the current visiting arrangements at Sümela — the access road, any limits, which parts are open — so we do not state them.
In the city are the Ayasofya mosque, the Abdullah Paşa fountain, the Trabzon Museum and the press history museum; the Sera Gölü, Kayabaşı and Görnek nature parks are the rest of the list, and Sera Gölü's coordinates came from the forestry directorate's own map data.
Writing this corrected Sümela's recorded type, which read as an archaeological site rather than a monastery. What each place is, and who says so, is on its own page.
