The Alpaslan Museum is in the town of Alpaslan, in the Taşova district of Amasya, and it is housed in an Ottoman bath. The collection began in 1964 with archaeological and ethnographic pieces gathered from the surrounding area; the bath was converted for the purpose in 1991, and the museum opened in the town in 1994.
It is a local museum and shows what the district itself has produced — archaeological and ethnographic material and coins from the Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman periods. A reconstructed village room of the region is displayed alongside objects from prehistory and examples of Seljuk and Ottoman woodwork.
The most particular pieces came from an archaeological site north of the town: a Seljuk wooden sarcophagus and a tomb door, shown together with their original endowment deed and genealogy.
