The monument was designed by the sculptor Tankut Öktem and is 30 metres long and 17 metres high, built as three groups of figures on one base.
The first group is the cavalry, standing for the liberation of Uşak by Turkish horsemen. Rising from the base is the Victory Column, for the idea that the Turkish nation cannot be held captive and will live free. In front of that column are Atatürk and the figures of a young woman and a young man carrying books marked science and art. The third group is women and an ox cart loaded with ammunition, for the courage of Turkish women.
Among these figures stands a block 17 metres high, worked into the base, and around it are set some of Atatürk's words on art, culture and the Republic.
