The Cedid Havatin tomb is the newest of the three tombs standing together at the Yeni Camii complex in Eminönü: square in plan, it was added to the north of the group in the nineteenth century.
The other two are older — the tomb of Hatice Turhan Valide Sultan, built in 1663, and the Havatin tomb beside it, which began as a room for Quran recitation and became a burial place for women of the dynasty. Eighty-two members of the Ottoman house are buried in the three together.
All three were restored in one campaign and reopened to visitors when it was finished.
