Cinci Han was built by Cinci Hoca, known also as Kazasker Hüseyin Efendi, one of the grand viziers of Sultan İbrahim. It stands about eleven kilometres from the centre of Karabük. Because it carries no inscription its date is not known for certain; it is estimated to have been built between 1640 and 1648.
The building is of cut and rubble stone, with brick used in places. It has two parts, a courtyard section and a stable section.
Cinci Han served as a caravanserai until the twentieth century. From the beginning of that century the people and tradesmen of Safranbolu used it as a store, and it has since been restored and brought into use as a hotel.
