There is no foundation inscription for this tomb and no documentary information about it. What there is instead is an argument from its neighbours: about fifteen metres to the north stand a mosque and a fountain carrying the same name, and the inscription on the fountain gives 1764–65. The same kind of stone was used in the mosque, the fountain and the tomb, which makes it likely that the tomb is of the same date as the mosque. The fountain was built by Ebu Bekir Ağa, so it can be supposed that he had the tomb built as well.
The building keeps its original character. It was repaired in 1976 and 1982, when the facing stones of the dome were renewed and the surroundings laid out.
It measures 3.82 by 3.82 metres on the outside and belongs to the baldachin type of tomb. Brick was used on the inside of the dome, and finely worked yellowish trachyte on the piers, the arches and the outside of the dome.
Four L-shaped piers two metres high carry pointed arches, and on them sits a dome 2.70 metres across, the transition made with pendentives at the corners. The outer corners of the piers are chamfered from the level of the springing stones of the arches upward, forming an octagonal drum 0.40 metres high finished with a stone cornice, and the dome rests on that drum. Beneath it is a monolithic prismatic stone cenotaph carrying no inscription. The building is very plainly made.
