Eğirdir lies between the Sultan and Karakuş mountains, in the middle of Isparta province. It runs fifty kilometres north to south and between three and fifteen east to west, and it gathers the water of a basin of about 3,309 square kilometres. Karst played a large part in its formation: the lake sits in a subsidence trough on a limestone base.
What people come for is the shoreline — clear beaches, apple and peach orchards around the water, and a lake that changes colour through the day and is at its best at sunset.
