The mosque has been repaired many times and has lost its features to a great extent. It was built in 1577 by Erdoğdu Bey, governor of Trabzon, in the quarter that carries his name.
What is worth looking at is the mihrab: its niche has a muqarnas hood, with a rosette in each spandrel and a band of inscription above. The date 1899 found there belongs to the mosque's last repair. The minbar is wooden and was left plain.
