The grave is inside the Taşhan in Bolu: a stone tomb, open to the sky, enclosed on four sides by the walls of the han, with two more graves beside it.
The name comes from the trade of the man buried there. He worked as a shoe mender, which earned him the word eskici; when it was understood that he was a saint he took the name baba, and his real name was forgotten. He is believed to have lived in the seventeenth century and to have mended shoes at the Taşhan where his grave lies.
