The Fasıllar monument, also known as the wolf's cradle, lies on its side at the western foot of a hillock south of Fasıllar village, in the Beyşehir district of Konya, and it is one of the largest rock monuments in the world. It is about 3,500 years old and was commissioned by the Hittite king Muwatalli. It was carved into a twenty-square-metre face of a huge rock measuring 2.25 by 2.75 by 8.30 metres and weighing some 72 tonnes.
The carving shows two gods, one large and one small, with a pair of lions in relief flanking the lower god. It is thought to depict the battle of Kadesh between the Hittites and the Egyptians. That some parts were not finished in detail indicates it was prepared to be set up where it would be seen from a distance. A copy of the monument is displayed at the Museum of Anatolian Civilisations in Ankara.
