Guide
Gecek's hot springs lie sixteen kilometres north-west of Afyonkarahisar, beside the Afyonkarahisar–Kütahya highway and the railway that runs from Afyonkarahisar towards Uşak and İzmir. Ömer Kaplıcası, another spa on the same highway, is close by. Both belong to the ring of spa centres around Afyonkarahisar, a province that bills itself as Türkiye's thermal capital.
The provincial culture and tourism directorate singles out Gecek for orthopaedic complaints. It reports that bathing in the water has been found helpful for rheumatic conditions, neuralgia, neuritis and polyneuritis, for physical rehabilitation after orthopaedic procedures, and for metabolic and gynaecological complaints, and that drinking it has given positive results in obesity and diabetes.
