Karaahmetli Nature Park covers 107 hectares within the bounds of the village of Karaahmetli in the Bahşılı district of Kırıkkale. It was declared a nature park by a decision of the Council of Ministers dated 23 July 2009.
The park lies south-west of Kırıkkale on the shore of the Kapulukaya reservoir, between the districts of Bahşılı and Keskin. It can be reached by surfaced road from the centre of Kırıkkale as far as the village and by unsurfaced road from there. It is twenty-six kilometres from Kırıkkale, twenty-four from Bahşılı and seventy-seven from Ankara.
Within the park, 235 species, 27 subspecies and 6 varieties have been recorded, belonging to 201 genera across 51 families. Seven of the plants are endemic: bear's breeches, hare's ear, a species of madwort, a bellflower relative, a spider flower, a milkvetch and the Ankara crocus.
Sixty-three bird species, twelve reptiles and fifteen mammals live in the park and the country around it, and there are thirteen kinds of fish in the Kapulukaya reservoir. The reservoir is also a habitat of the Eurasian otter, a threatened species.
Different ecosystems occur across the site, varying with the lie of the land and the altitude. Between natural woodland, rock and steppe, the park supports a range of wildlife and offers scope for scientific work.
The park suits day recreation and sport. Visitors picnic here, walk, fish with rod and line and watch birds. On the site are thirty-seven arbours, fifty-two picnic tables, a lavatory block, five fountains, four children's playgrounds, a water tank, parking and a sports area, along with two hundred metres of paved road and two kilometres of natural stone track.
