Altın Kemer is Karamürsel's public beach, a kilometre from the town centre on the southern shore of the Gulf of İzmit. Its strip of sand is 190 metres long and 18 metres wide. The beach was equipped for disabled visitors, with lifeguard and first-aid provision, and it has a small amphitheatre. It was awarded the Blue Flag in 2012, 2013 and 2014.

Summers in Karamürsel are hot with little rain, July and August being the warmest months, while winters are cool and wet.

Getting there

Karamürsel is linked to the centre of Kocaeli by both road and sea; public transport and sea buses run to the district.
