This nature park lies in the Bahçeköy quarter of Sarıyer and covers twenty-three hectares. Declared a nature park by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in 2011, it is one of nine nature parks within the Belgrade Forest. It is named in honour of Mehmet Akif Ersoy, the poet, writer, academic and member of parliament who wrote the Turkish national anthem, who lived from 1873 to 1936.
The vegetation is middle-aged and old forest trees: oriental plane, black pine, silver lime, hornbeam, Hungarian and sessile oak, common ash, oriental beech and alder, with bramble, tree heath, oriental arborvitae, blackthorn, evergreen spindle, Chinese photinia, bay, Japanese pittosporum, goat willow, butcher's broom, lavender, red dead-nettle and dandelion beneath and among them.
