The minbar of the mosque at Posof carries an inscription dated 1868, and that is the date usually given for it.
The provincial directorate does not leave it there. In the rectangular burial ground east of the mosque stands a sarcophagus inscribed 1771, which it says suggests the mosque's history reaches further back than the minbar date. Both dates are on the record and neither is settled.
The plan is a rectangle longer than it is wide, built of cut stone, and the interior follows Ottoman architecture.
