Sahara plateau lies within the Sahara-Karagöl national park, seventeen kilometres from the centre of Artvin, between Şavşat and Ardahan. Wide pasture and cold water make it one of the province's notable plateaus, and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism calls it among the best places in Artvin for camping and caravans.

The Sahara Pancarcı festival is held here on the fourth weekend of July each year. It is reached by midibus or any smaller vehicle.
