The church stands in the Asarcık neighbourhood of Asarcık village in the Şebinkarahisar district of Giresun and was registered for protection in 1986. The inscription above the entrance gives 1890 as the date of building; its Greek text reads as the call of the Virgin, with that year.
The plan is a basilica of three aisles, with a narthex on the west and a triple apse on the east. There is no bell tower. The door leaves carry four panels each, eight in all, and the upper panels have a cross motif in the form of an X. Of the Greek inscription on the window lintel only the date, 1890, can be read.
Frescoes survive in part on the interior walls, but their subject cannot be made out.
The village is 110 kilometres from the city of Giresun and 18 from Şebinkarahisar, reached by vehicles leaving from the town centre.
