The date this mosque was built is not known, though it most likely took its present form in the fifteenth century; it was repaired twice in the nineteenth. Its garden walls, which amount to a courtyard, spread it over a wide area.
In plan it runs across rather than lengthwise, in the manner of Mardin's mosques and prayer houses generally: the main space is a nave under two long barrel vaults set crosswise. The space on the south side, covered by a cross vault, was probably a tomb or a place for the ceremony of remembrance. The mosque is on 1. Cadde in the centre of Mardin.
