The Şeyh Lütfullah Mosque in Balıkesir was built in 1429, and it is thought to have been founded by Şeyh Lütfullah, a companion of Hacı Bayram Veli. It has not come down in its original condition: the mosque was renewed in 1907.
It is a rectangular building of cut stone, entered up three steps into the porch. Because the women's gallery sits above that porch, the front reads as two storeys. The prayer hall is covered by a flat wooden roof, with four windows in the mihrab wall and three in each of the others. The mihrab is stone and the minbar wooden. The single-balcony cut-stone minaret is cylindrical on a square base. In the courtyard is an octagonal ablution fountain under a dome with wide eaves. The mosque is in the Lütfullah quarter, reached from Gazi Bulvarı.
