Suadiye Nature Park lies within the province of Kocaeli, on the part of the Samanlı mountains at a height of a thousand metres. It was declared a nature park by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry on 11 July 2011, and suits walking and picnicking.
Pure beech forest makes up the dominant vegetation. Black pine, fir, chestnut, hornbeam, oak, plane, aspen, fern, mastic, ivy, rhododendron, bearberry, meadow grasses, green olive tree, bramble and bay grow here as well.
Tortoise, buzzard, sparrowhawk and wood pigeon are found in the park, together with hedgehog, wild hare, jackal, fox, wolf, brown bear, red deer, wild boar and roe deer.
Getting there
The park is thirty-four kilometres from the central district of İzmit, forty from Gölcük, forty-four from Sakarya, ninety from Yalova and 130 from İstanbul, and twenty-five kilometres from the İzmit–Sakarya and İzmit–Yalova roads.
