Two columns rise from the Zafer Anıtı inside the Malazgirt Meydan Muharebesi Tarihi Milli Parkı, standing for the gateway to Anatolia and for the Turkish entry into it. The monument commemorates the victory at Malazgirt in 1071, which it presents as the first great Turkish victory in Anatolia. It was designed by the architect Mustafa Aslaner, and its imagery represents Anatolia, the Turkish states and the crescent-and-star flag.
