This is a reproduction, and it does not pretend otherwise. The house in Thessaloniki where Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was born and spent his childhood has been rebuilt on the grounds of the Atatürk Forest Farm in Ankara, which he founded himself, and opened to visitors on 10 November 1981.
The copying was thorough: the dimensions of the building, and the measurements, patterns and forms of the objects placed inside it, follow the Thessaloniki house, and the arrangement of the rooms matches the original.
There are three floors counting the basement, and you enter from the back, up a stone stair. The basement holds an office, a library and a storeroom. Upstairs are a hall, a guest room, a box room, the room of Atatürk's mother Zübeyde Hanım, and his own study and bedroom.
Entry is free. The museum can be reached on public transport running to Gazi Mahallesi.
