Ali Ağa's poplar is one of the older trees on the state's protected list: the Directorate General of Nature Conservation and National Parks puts its age at 500 years. It stands 30 metres tall, with a trunk 1.55 metres across and a girth of 4.85 metres, and it was declared a natural monument on 26 June 1995.

The tree is in Gümüşhane province. Anyone planning to find it should ask the provincial branch of the directorate first, and then ask locally.
